Alfresco Version 2.9 Provides An Open Source Alternative for Content Management

Alfresco previewed its upcoming version 2.9 of its open-source content management platform. Alfresco continues to build out third party integration capabilities, including the ability to integrate with Adobe's "Flex-2-Web" framework, as well as iGoogle. In the Nemertes benchmark "Building the Successful Virtual Workplace" sixty-five percent of enterprise IT executives interviewed said their organizations were deploying shared workspace platforms, with sixty-one percent noting that they were deploying Microsoft Office SharePoint. Alfresco hopes to position its platform as a more extensible, scalable, and lower cost alternative to Microsoft's Office SharePoint for enterprise content and document management.
