"Nemertes Study Says Legal Rulings Reinforce The Need For Messaging Systems Compliance" Messaging Pipeline article
It's no longer just about meeting regulatory requirements

This week Philip Morris was fined nearly $3 million because they deleted e-mail after a judge had ordered them to keep all documents that could potentially be relevant to a government lawsuit. And last week, UBS AG was sanctioned for failing to produce and destroying e-mail messages in a gender discrimination lawsuit.
"Those two rulings," says research analyst Melanie Turek of Nemertes Research, "support our call for companies to pay attention to messaging as the develop compliance policies." In a new paper published this week entitled Messaging Non-Compliance Will Cost You Money, Turek spells out the compliance issues embedded in messaging systems.
