HP's Cast Iron SaaS Integration Plan Highlights Growing Importance of SaaS to Enterprise

HP (NYSE:HPQ) will have its resellers offer HP servers as appliances running privately held Cast Iron's SaaS integration software, which aids enterprises integrating SaaS applications with each other or in-house applications. Nemertes' research finds 64% of organizations using a SaaS application, half integrating the SaaS applications with service oriented architectures (SOA). Thirty-seven percent of SOA users are willing to embed SOA services in the network. HP sees this as a way to ride the SaaS adoption wave into more, especially SMB, data centers, and Cast Iron gets 25000 resellers behind it.

Impacts:

Enterprises: Challenged by SaaS integration? Evaluate solutions like this one.

Vendors: Competitors such as Informatica (NASDAQ:INFA) and Pervasive (NASDAQ:PSVW: Can you find a partner with similar leverage?

Investors: Competitors that can't find a partner may be ripe for acquisition, by Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL), Progress Software (NASDAQ:PRGS), or others.
