The best way to leverage real-time collaboration applications is to integrate them, so that users can tap into presence across technologies, inside and outside their organizations. WebEx Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: WEBX), and America Online Inc. (NYSE: TWX) recently announced that they’ve integrated WebEx meeting capabilities into the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service. The new service, called AIM Web Meetings by WebEx, lets users invite attendees and start online meetings right from their AIM Buddy List. The service is free to WebEx corporate customers, although it does require AIM 5.5. AIM users without WebEx corporate subscriptions can use AIM Web Meetings by WebEx on a pay-per-use basis.
