Interwoven Discovers e-Discovery

Enterprise content management (ECM) provider Interwoven (NASDAQ:IWOV) has announced plans to acquire e-discovery service provider Discovery Mining. E-Discovery is becoming a core component of ECM as organizations content and the demands placed on e-discovery grow dramatically. In particular, as
discussed in the forthcoming Nemertes' e-Retention and Archive Issue Paper, the updated Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) are driving organizations to scramble to develop, implement and enforce e-discovery and e-retention policies and procedures.

Impacts:

Enterprises: Much of e-discovery is focused on e-retention; make sure you consider e-discovery in the larger context of ECM.

Vendors: Interwoven competitors should be aligning with e-discovery vendors to offer
integrated solutions.

Investors: There will be more consolidation in this space. Likely buyers include IBM (NYSE:IBM), Open Text (NASDAQ:OTEX), Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) and Vignette (NASDAQ:VIGN) and likely e-discovery acquisition candidates include privately held CT Summation, EED, Index Engines and Zylab.
