Oracle Creates a Buzz With Beehive 

With Beehive, Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) takes another shot at the enterprise
unified communications and collaboration market. Oracle's previous
"Collaboration Suite" failed to gain significant market adoption, but increasing
enterprise adoption of unified communications offers greater chances for
success.

Eighty-four percent of IT executives participating in the Nemertes' benchmark
Unified Communications and Collaboration are moving forward with UC
deployments, while 43% say their strategic UC vendor is "not" their VOIP vendor,
meaning opportunities are abundant for application vendors to gain traction in
the UC space.

Impacts:

Enterprises: Oracle customers should evaluate Beehive to build communication
and collaboration capabilities around Oracle business applications.

Vendors: Beehive offers extensive APIs for partners to create their own
custom implementations. Evaluate opportunities to build solutions around
Beehive.

Investors: Oracle has an uphill climb against better entrenched collaboration
and communications vendors. If Oracle succeeds it will likely take market-share
from IBM Lotus (NYSE:IBM) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT).
