Riding the Wave

Privately held TwistedPair Solutions' Wave technology promises to integrate
land-mobile radios into Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) implementations. This
extends FMC beyond cell phones and desktops into the domain of
pervasive-communications fabrics, at least for those companies planning to use
Microsoft-based communications.

Nemertes benchmark, Advanced Communications Services, indicates that
10% of businesses are implementing FMC. Most still are trying to determine the
business value for FMC. TwistedPair's solution points in the direction of
flexible, pervasive communications as an achievable goal for FMC.

Impacts:

Enterprises: FMC-enabled field forces who depend on land-mobile radio are now
possible. It's time to reconsider FMC.

Vendors: TwistedPair technology is available for OEM. Wave may provide an
interesting adjunct to exiting FMC solutions.

Investors: FMC has been slow in developing. TwistedPair provides a reason for
re-evaluating this market.
