Not Dead Yet.......
Last week the Wall Street Journal identified Sprint (NTSE: S) as one of its
Ten Worst Managed Companies in America. This was based on Sprint's customer
service and its hesitancy over WiMAX .
It appears that Sprint is trying to do something about this. In recent
Nemertes' research for Advanced Communications Services, Sprint was rated
highest by SMBs. Additionally, although Sprint has faltered on its WiMAX
initiatives, it has made major strides lately and remains on course for
deployment.
Impacts:
Enterprises: It's somewhat premature to rule Sprint out as a service provider
in spite of the Wall Street Journal's assessment.
Vendors: Don't rule out the competitive threat Sprint poses. With or without
Sprint, its WiMAX network is coming.
Investors: Sprint isn't dead yet. If the WiMAX rollout happens and if Sprint
can extend customer service focus from business to the consumer, it could still
be a good investment.
