The Issue:
Unified communications has been the subject of much hype in the marketplace, but beyond the hype the question remains "what are enterprises actually deploying?" This issue paper looks at unified communications applications and architectures and provides insight into enterprise deployments based on research gathered from hundreds of end-user organizations.
We also discuss adoption of unified communications, both for specific services and applications, as well as for an integrated UC architecture. End-users, vendors, and service providers, can use this report to gain insight into what is really happening in the UC market place, which applications are enterprises deploying, and how are enterprises interconnecting various real-time collaboration applications into a unified communications architecture.
