Turning Technology Into Value - Preview

The Issue

Companies are under intensifying pressure to do more, faster, and more effectively than ever before. At the same time, they’re scrutinizing the return on every dollar, euro, or yen spent. This, in turn, puts pressure on IT organizations to clearly justify the value of their expenditures—and sometimes, of their very existence (given the increased interest in outsourcing). But associating a hard-dollar “value” to technology is devilishly challenging. There’s no silver bullet: As with any other investment, technologists need to be able to clearly align technology investments with business initiatives, define success metrics, and demonstrate a compelling ROI.
