Communications and Computing 2009 Benchmark: Unified Communications
By:
August 17, 2009
Unified communications has arrived, with 60% of participants now implementing the various technologies versus just 47% a year ago. But UC implementations have shifted from strategic toward tactical. IT executives are slowing plans for a general-purpose UC architecture that integrates voice, video, instant messaging, calendaring and other office-productivity applications into a unified dashboard providing users with presence information regardless of location, device or application. Instead, organizations are adopting the individual components of UC that make the most sense now, while ensuring that whatever they adopt today is part of a longer term roadmap that allows for seamless integration among disparate applications in the future.
