Redefining the Cloud

The journey to the private cloud has begun. Nearly 20% of organizations will have a private cloud by the end of 2011. Though the milestones on the journey are clear, many companies are calling what they have “private clouds,” long before completing the journey. The enterprise is redefining what it means by private cloud, and in the process leaving out things commonly considered mandatory, such as self-provisioning. Organizations with a private cloud are happy with its success but at the same time there are significant concerns limiting this success—most significantly internal process issues such as cost accounting, politics, and general lack of process support for the private cloud.
