Social Computing: Success Metrics and Business Cases

Enterprise social computing deployment continues to increase, with more than 60% of companies deploying, planning to deploy, or evaluating social tools for future deployment. However, few organizations have a unified, corporate-wide social strategy covering internal and external communities. Rather, in most companies, social software deployments are happening independently across a variety of business units. Those companies where marketing is leading social use report the highest success, as other groups and IT struggle to develop quantifiable business cases to justify investment.
