What We Do
Nemertes specializes in analyzing and quantifying the business value of emerging technologies. We select technical and business issues to research based on input from our clients and benchmarks participants.
Our process for each benchmark is based on hundreds of hours of primary research, including detailed conversations with scores of IT executives, as well as vendors and service providers. These IT executives, selected from a network of thousands, share the details of their business and technical concerns with our analysts—-all seasoned executives with decades of personal operational and management experience who can communicate with the IT executives on their level. This peer-to-peer relationship with IT executives gives us unprecedented insight into how emerging technologies are deployed in the real world.
We then compile and quantify the results of this research and from it construct and validate cost models using our unique Total Value of Service Delivery methodology. Each benchmark also highlights areas in which the market is not addressing business needs and provides recommendations and best practices to our constituents based on our industry insight and operational experience.
Nemertes Research Delivery
To provide true business value, research must be customized to a client’s needs. For this reason, we deliver our research primarily in the form of live call and in-person strategic briefings, during which we address specific client concerns and drill down into areas of greatest interest. During these sessions, we provide targeted recommendations, guidance, and specific next steps based on the client’s unique needs, our research findings, and our overall industry experience. As part of our retainer offering, we always provide ongoing support via phone and email.
Benchmark Components
Each research benchmark includes four main components:
1. Detailed quantitative and qualitative insight into IT deployment and best practices. Nemertes analysts spend hundreds of hours conducting detailed, open-ended interviews with IT executives across a range of industries. We compile the results into comprehensive trend, technology, and business analysis and use the baseline information to create cost and business-value benchmarks.
2. Objective technology, product, and service assessments. Based on input provided to us by the IT executives and vendors, we provide detailed, objective comparisons of different products and technologies. Certain vendors are also rated by the IT executives themselves, for a quantitative, user-based analysis.
3. Unique business value and cost models. In assessing the business impact of a technology, Nemertes deploys its Total Value of Service Delivery model. This approach allows us to quantify and validate the benefit (or lack thereof) of particular technologies and solutions.
4. Focused best practices, guidelines, and recommendations. Each benchmark concludes with a detailed set of recommendations addressing the primary concerns and issues of various research constituents (IT executives, vendors, service providers, and venture capitalists). In interactive one-on-one briefings, Nemertes analysts tailor the recommendations specifically to the needs of client organizations.
