Every IT person has heard ad nauseam about the rise of cloud services and their impact on IT. Many organizations—particularly small and midsize ones—are finding that a trifecta of cloud-based SaaS offerings meet the majority of their business requirements: A cloud-based communications provider (such as Google), combined with cloud-based document-sharing services (such as those provided by Box) and a cloud-based business-process solution (such as that provided by Salesforce). But can companies truly turn over their business processes to the cloud?

Find out the strengths and weaknesses of a SaaS-centric approach to IT, including impacts on network infrastructure, security, and business agility in this informative Webinar.

When you need analysis on a database in real time, and your current general-purpose database can't get you there, a world of other options are available. We'll explore the kinds of problems driving organizations to adopt databases optimized for speed, and the variety of systems out there meant to address the challenge, including in-memory databases like SAP HANA, VoltDB, and MemSQL; and columnar systems such as HP Vertica, Teradata, or ParAccel.

Unified Communications has existed in one form or another for over ten years, but even now enterprises struggle to create a UC strategy, integrate UC applications from vendors such as Avaya, Cisco, and Microsoft, evaluate the role of cloud, extend UC out to mobile workers, integrate UC in their contact centers, and incorporate video. During this informative webinar we'll share the latest Nemertes research on UC adoption, highlight what makes for a successful deployment, and provide practical guidance for a go-forward strategy.

Organizations of all kinds want to become more data-driven, and are reaching for Big Data tools and techniques to satisfy their growing need to bring together more, and more kinds, of data for analysis. Hadoop and other such tools are built around a different paradigm for data storage and analysis than conventional databases and data warehouses. How do they work? Should you deploy them? Should you use the free versions or something with full support, from vendors such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR, and Platfora? In this webinar we'll examine the Hadoop paradigm, and how and why companies are bringing it into production.

Apps! Everybody knows them, everybody has some. How do you make mobile apps work for you rather than just exposing the enterprise network to new threats? Success depends on recognition that mobility and a rapid, steady stream of new devices are here to stay, and on how well IT organizations meet the needs of a new generation of workers who:

  • See little distinction between work devices and personal devices
  • Creatively use public apps to address both business and personal needs
  • Often put usability ahead of security

Attend this webinar to understand the issues involved and learn the best practices for a successful approach to enterprise app development and rollout to become an app-savvy enterprise!

The number of mobile devices within organizations continues to multiply, as employees continue to bring a growing population of tablets, smartphones and hybrid devices. With these devices in tow, employees unknowingly are providing a growing number of attack vectors for malicious hackers, using apps, mobile browsers and VPN agents. Attacks range from malware attempting to piggyback otherwise authorized communications to look for weaknesses in the company firewall to uploading device and even corporate data to remote servers. In order to combat these weakly secure devices, IT departments must look to provide pervasive, policy-based access to devices and apps without compromising security policy, degrading performance, or significantly increasing cost. Moreover, devices no longer simply connect to the WLAN, but are being used to access corporate networks using a variety of different connection mediums, geographies and times of day. Most organizations use Mobile Device Management (MDM) and/or Mobile Application Management (MAM) solutions to address security requirements, but this has become par for the course.

This webinar will look at the growing practice of pervasive protection and security and provide guidance on how to implement unified security policy designed to address these new threats.

The big data movement is not at its core about how many petabytes of stuff you store or sift through; it is about deriving big insights into how to improve the business by casting a wider net for your analysis. The key to creating a sustainable benefit from big data is building out systems around a big data lifecycle that stretches from acquisition to archiving or disposal (and yes, sometimes you do want to throw things away!). In this webinar Nemertes will discuss the main components of a big data lifecycle and infrastructure and provide guidance on how to build your own.
